While you’re here, this is an example of how to address Jakob Nielsen’s Usability Heuristic #9 “Help users recognize, diagnose, and recover from errors.”

My personal preference for addressing errors is to:

  • Explain what went wrong in human language

  • Add some humor to account for part of the user’s frustration

  • End with a direct instruction to get the user on the right path again.
